A lot of people care about you, even if you don't realize it. You're loved, and would be missed greatly if you did this. You're worth more than you think you are, I promise. You mean too much to the world to leave it so soon.

Well stated! Also, to anyone considering suicide also remember that it hurts the Divine when you hurt yourself. He/She loves you so much and as much as they would love to see your lovely soul again, they want you to live and love the life you have because life is such an amazing gift.

MUCH LOVE!

While a nice sentiment, I don't think it's always true. There ARE a lot of people in the world who have no one - not family, not friends, nothing. They barely exist as a statistic to the government and honestly won't be missed until the next census rolls around.

Harsh? Yes. True? Yes.

I don't want to sound like a downer or anything, but I can think of some valid reason for committing suicide.

1) You were sold into sex slavery and abused, with no hope of getting out. Death would be like a release to that person.
2) You find out you have a terminal illness which will cause you lots of pain the more it progresses. Again, wouldn't a quick death be a release?
3)....well you get the idea.

I know that in "our" civilized world, situations like this seem rare, but they DO happen.

Although what akumaxkami said may be true for some, most that contemplate or commit suicide don't do it for these reasons.

Suicide is a very painful subject and not to be taken lightly. My family calls those who commit or try to commit suicide as selfish people, I hardly believe this is the case.

My aunt has committed suicide due to bullies (and I think my dad) and I have attempted it once.

It is painful to the body, and the soul. That doesn't even account for the people out there that do love you that you may not know about or have yet to meet!

Plus, if you did not die from your act, the mental hospital they put you in will make you cry and you WILL get harmed...by the staff.

Please don't do it! We do care!

I don't get why people would call it a selfish act. There are always rare exceptions, but most of the time that is not the case. Check out any application for life insurance, for instance. Down in the fine print, there is always some kind of a waiting period for your family to collect money if your death is from suicide. Apparently enough people bought life insurance then took their own lives to warrant this, because many selfless people would rather die then let their family live in poverty. What about soldiers who put themselves in harm's way to protect others and save other people's lives? What about secret service agents who take the bullet for whoever they are protecting?

Anyways, I have become a believer that spirits of suicides are often benevolent. The best I have been able to find so far exist in old Jewish folklore and mysticism as "good dybbuks" (verses evil dybbuks). Usually they try to redeem themselves by bringing comfort to those who are suffering the same kinds of things they did in life. They try to walk them through it, so to speak.

I found an article on the subject of souls of suicides. Read it, don't read it. Agree or don't agree. But it has some unique perspectives that I never got from the pulpit as a kid.
