Stevie Nicks' Magical Life
Witchy Stevie Nicks Videos
Below are some of my favorite Stevie songs. Some of them have partial lyrics posted below the video.
"Sisters of the Moon" (Mirage concert, 1982) - Stevie speaks in tongues at the end of this song. It's pretty wicked. Maybe she was raised Pentecostal, like me. ;)
As she walked in the room
Her black robes trailing
Sister of the moon
And a black widow spider makes
More sound than she
And black moons in those eyes of hers
Made more sense to me
It was hard to breathe
She was dark at the top of the stairs
And she called to me
And so I followed
As friends often do
I cared not for love, nor money
I think she knew
The people, they love her
And still they are the most cruel
She asked me
Be my sister, sister of the moon
Some call her sister of the moon
Some say illusions are her game
They like to wrap her in velvet
Does anyone know her name?
So we make our choices,
But darling, there never was any
We listen to their voices, but we ignore our own voice
And when the people gather around you,
Do you remember that they were the most cruel?
And when they ask, will you be my sister....
brother.... sister.... brother.... ooh of the moon?
Ooh you just say "No baby!"
Oh, you say, "No baby no!"
And you say, "No baby ah...
"Gold Dust Woman" from The Dance
concert in 1997
Well, did she make you cry?
Make you break down?
Shatter your illusions of love?
And is it over now - do you know how
to pick up the pieces and go home?
Rock on, Ancient Queen
Follow those who pale
In your shadow...
"The Chain" from the 1982 Mirage Concert Video. I love this performance, especially when Stevie and Lindsey and screaming at each other
Well, I can still hear you saying,
you would never break, (never break)
"Rhiannon" live 1975 - "This is the story about a Welsh witch," Stevie says in the introduction to the song. I always
fall in love with her all over again at the end of this song. This is her "possessed" version of Rhiannon, which was only done in the early days.
"Crystal" from the Fleetwood Mac
white album. Sorry there's not a cool video of this version of the song. I may have
to make one myself. There are other versions though. One is from the movie
Practical Magic and you can find videos with clips from the movie.
"Silver Springs" from The Dance
concert in 1997. The ending is the best part...
I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you...
Was I just a fool?!!!...
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you! "Never get
away! never get away! NEVER GET AWAY!
(I love that part so much! You've got to see her glaring and pointing at Lindsay, her ex.)
Turn your volume down some. The
sound isn't good on this video, but Stevie twirling around is
awesome. She may not be a witch (so she says), but she's definitely
inspired many women and gay men to want to be witches, so she might as
well be our leader. ;)
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" - Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty. The song was written by Tom, so it's not that witchy, but Stevie looks so pretty
"Sara" was written about Stevie's best friend, Sara, who died of cancer. :( It's also written about Mick Fleetwood ("like a great dark wing").
You're the poet in my heart,
and don't you ever stop
It's never gone...
it always matters what for
So when you finish your house,
I will come by
(Ooooh ... Sara.... )
All I ever wanted
was to know that you were dreaming
There's a heartbeat, and it never really died
"Gold and Braid" The end is the best part (but this video includes 2 separate songs, so the end
of Gold and Braid is the middle of the video, in case you were thinking of skipping ahead.)
Don't hide behind your hair,
It's a bit of gold and braid
Easy come the tears
You see the pathway, ending in a doorway
She slips toward the doorway
Been waiting there all day, all these years.
Don't hide it
In his heart, he wishes to forget her
Like to make her better
And to hold her like a child
Don't hide your eyes that way
Don't hide anything, not anymore (ooh ooh ooh)
Because I never did not love you,
I never did run from you,
In a dream I said to you that I
I always loooooooved you....
"Fireflies" by Fleetwood Mac. Maybe more for the die-hards, but definitely a favorite of mine.
It's not really a witchy song. I've just started posting my non-witchy favorites now, lol.)
I bite my lip
Can you send me away?
You touch, I have no choice
I have to stay
Oooh, I have to stay.
You say it will be harder in the morning,
I wait for you to say 'Just go'
Your hands held mine so few hours
But I'm not a child anymore
I'm not a child anymore
I'm tall enough to reach for the stars
I'm old enough to love you from afar
Too trusting, yes, but then women usually are
I'm not a child anymore (I'm not a child)
I'm tall enough to reach for the stars (I will do as I'm told)
I'm old enough to love you from afar (even if I never hold you)
Too trusting, yes, but then women usually are (again)
Hold you... again
(Hold you) Sleepless child (again)
There's so little time (I will do as I'm told)
Your eyes say yes, but you don't say yes (even if I never hold you)
I wish that you were mine (again)
(Hold you) I wish that you were mine (again)
(Even if I never hold you) Well, I wish that you were mine
(Hold you) Well, I wish that you were mine (again)
(I'm not a child anymore)
(Tall enough to reach for the stars)
