I have most often felt them around when doing a ritual that involves music and dancing outside. We often play instruments and dance to raise group energy and that is when the little people draw near.

Quartz is everywhere. I find it in my garden all of the time. I'm not really sure about finding geodes though, I've never found one myself. The beach is always a good place to find stones, or the edge of any waterway really.

There are ornamental varieties of cherry cultivated in the city, and probably chokecherry growing wild everywhere. Cedar should also be cultivated as a decorative plant in the city. You should have Burr Oak that far south, and certainly Maple, Poplar, Spruce and Pine, probably Elm, although there are laws about transporting it due to Dutch Elm Disease. I'm certain you could also find apple, cherry, cedar and Willow.
