Re: Maiden, Mother and Crone-Welsh Goddesses?

Maybe this question should be moved to the Mythology Board; does anyone know how to do that w/o reposting and losing the replies?

Re: Maiden, Mother and Crone-Welsh Goddesses?

In the first Xanth novel, A Spell for Chameleon, Chameleon was a woman who went from maiden to mother to crone, over the span of every month. She also went from beautiful and ditzy, to ugly and wise. Average was mid month. I don't know if there are ant deities who go through that. It was just one o...

Re: Maiden, Mother and Crone-Welsh Goddesses?

Welsh Goddesses cannot be appreciated simply at face value; they most often are represented as catalysts of change in stories. Pehaps unlike many cultures, their methods are often of secondary importance to their roles and the mortal women who often act in the role of a goddess (achieving ones aims...

Re: Maiden, Mother and Crone-Welsh Goddesses?

Anciently speaking, goddesses were not put into "maiden, mother, crone" categories. This is a modern invention. It really depends if you want to see the Celtic (Welsh) gods in the original lenses or the modern or a mix of the two. If modern is better for the practitioner one has to be car...

Maiden, Mother and Crone-Welsh Goddesses?

Who do you think would be the Maiden, Mother, and Crone of Welsh mythology in the Wiccan framework? The reason this interests me is because of the great variance of how many Female Deities could fit each role in a variety of ways. For example, the Goddess Ceridwen-tending to her magical cauldron, fo...

Re: What do you put in your Witches' Protection Bottle?

Love the thread! I haven't buried bottles since I moved into this apartment situation three years ago, but at my previous home, one with adequate space to call my own, I did bottles every Litha. ...the things that go into them were never pleasant. I fueled mine to be as repulsive as I felt I could ...

What do you put in your Witches' Protection Bottle?

Hi Everyone! I hope our nearing to the festival of Lugh has been exciting as much for you as it has been for me! :flyingwitch: I usually make a witches' bottle around this time of year; I try to have all my materials ready by Lughnasa, asking for Lugh's blessing and empowerment for my bottle, then I...

Are Druids a subgroup of Celts?

I've read DJ Conways's Celtic Magic and her Norse Gods' books in which she outlines methods in which both groups form a circle? However, as an eclectic Wiccan, myself, I borrow from here and there. I don't have a set Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses; rather, I incorporate the ones that speak more to m...

Re: Consencration Oil

I agree with Shireside. Plus anointing the body can be done with just a tiny dab on the forehead, both hands & feet. Don't use any essential oils if pregnant. EOs are strongly concentratrated and can be rapidly absorbed, & make you sick or pass out if they aren't diluted with a carrier oil....

Consecration Oil

I have come upon a recipe for 'Consecration Oil' in many books; however, they never offer an explanation of what the oil is specifically used for. Is the oil to be used on the ritual tool instead of passing it through the elements? Or, is it a final touch to the Consecration after the elemental part...

Re: Question about Eko chant

Thinking on the Goddess whose voice was stuck in the canyon gave me that inspiration, but I fell like something is lost here...also Ekho was Greek did that bleed over to Rome? The first two names rhyme nicely tho, who the heck are they or is it like rhyming babble? Maybe a form of glossolalia? http...

Question about Eko chant

I work with the Norse deities and ever since I started my craft about 5 years it's been, I have used the witches rune. I have seen this attached to the end of the witches rune which I use in my spellwork, however I usually don't use it. However I did one time replacing the last two names with my die...

Re: Received Hex Letter in Mail, How to Dispose of It?!

Freyja, I'm so sorry about not getting back to you sooner... life gets in the way sometimes...damn it ! This is just my opinion, now... Gather everything from this, ashes, papers, even papers you've written about this, anything connected ! Gather a fire-proof container-NOT YOUR CAULDRON. some sage-...

Re: Received Hex Letter in Mail, How to Dispose of It?!

It's fine to fold the letter and sandwich it between two mirrors. You can also (carefully) smash some mirrors, and glue the bits (carefully) on the inside of a box if you wanted a better fit. That's actually the way I was taught to do it. But either will work fine. (Also I was always told not to le...

Re: Received Hex Letter in Mail, How to Dispose of It?!

The thing is I let it go the first time because I thought it would bring me bad karma sending back all that fear, unknowing etc...to the person. Will it send me karma again? Make a mirror box and send it all back to them. Whatever hits them is their own darn 'karma.' Actions have consequences, let ...
