Ultimately, I think this is where the truth sits.

Those especially high on the spectrum would struggle, but I don't think it's a blanket no-no.

Re: Witchcraft is So Confusing! :(

Desire, focus, and intent are crucial to doing anything well. They absolutely are. But magic also requires the three things I mentioned earlier; emotional range, sensitivity and imagination. Without those three, you simply cannot hope to have success with magic. What did you think of Stephen Hough?...

Re: Witchcraft is So Confusing! :(

Let me see if I have the analogy correct. Creators or consumers right? Only people that write the music are the ones with the ability for music. The others who try to play instruments but don't write music are just consumers and not doing music. Do all those people in all the philharmonics, all the...

Re: Including different religions in my practice?

If practiced with faithful regularity of rite and ritual that has been created independently , and used exclusively by, a single individual, it still is well within the definition of religion, even if kept secret by said individual. Absolutely. Too many people think of religion as an independently ...

Re: Witchcraft is So Confusing! :(

Quite a few things to get through, here. I'll try and be brief. Darkest A., can you recommend one good source on magic? In many ways, it largely depends on who you are and what culture you're most familiar with. Several coven members I've worked with in the past found that Wiccan lore wasn't somethi...

Re: Including different religions in my practice?

How to you know she doesn't want to work with supernatural beings? Because they don't exist; not externally to us, anyway. They're personifications, typically used as an intermediary between the person/people they're relevant to, and divinity (the power of creation) itself. Does this mean you can't...

Re: Including different religions in my practice?

You can't mix religions. They're not cocktails. And it's not because it would be insulting to some deity, but because most every religious construct ever dreamed up is almost entirely man-made and is culturally appropriate for the time it was devised. From Judaism to Scientology, history creates sit...

Re: Witchcraft is So Confusing! :(

It seems that your biggest problem is that you're unable to sort out the gibberish you've been reading from what's actually worthwhile, and perhaps don't know what magic fundamentally is in the first place. When you go off in multiple directions, the reality is that you simply don't get anywhere at ...

Having been warned by an administrator, I'll be taking no further part in this discussion; I simply can't guarantee that I won't use language considered "abusive", so it's best to cease and desist.

Re: How can someone be a Christian Witch?

That's not 'source' material, that is a mistake early Wiccans did and that modern Wiccans do not make. Academia, with the original definition of witchcraft as "harmful magical practices" supports that witches were beyond any religion. Gardner, Valiente, etc are not the end all be all of w...

Re: How can someone be a Christian Witch?

I think the issue with this comes around when you start to think of witchcraft as a religion. It isn't. That's the problem. Witchcraft in and of itself is not a religion . Most magical practices and religion are two separate things in ancient and modern world. This seems to be a common misunderstan...

Re: How can someone be a Christian Witch?

Meh, I recall reading a book about this that was published by Llewellyn (I know, I know) and it comprised of utter gibberish throughout. It was a shame, because the concept is interesting but the reality... Not so much. In the end, there are three main issues that never seem to be addressed: 1) Witc...

Re: 'From Hell's heart, I stab at thee...'

and Anton was an excellent showman... Peter Gilmore is often fond of saying that all religions are partly show business, but Satanism is the only one to openly admit it. Perhaps that's what makes the generally good humoured accept Satanic magic for what it is; theatric, psycho-dramatic, visceral, a...

Re: Does a God/Goddess ever want you to work with just them?

Don't think of divinity in terms of individual gods or goddesses. If you read up on any single one of them, you'll find their equivalents in most every major civilisation throughout history. The gods of one race invariably become the demons of its conquerors, which clearly implies that we're not dea...
