Re: Wizards and witches and others
Wizards, witches, warlocks, wicca, e.t.c. come from the same etymological roots that later became associated with magical powers and occult sciences. Traditionally "witches" became known as the anti-social ones on the fringes of society that practiced malicious and harmful magic, but conte...

Re: Imbolc time 0202 2020
It's a pretty widely recoignised day here anyway, as St. Brigid's Day, so it's hard for us to miss! It's more promise of the ensuing spring to come, and a reminder I need to get out to collect plenty of rushes to make Brigid's crosses.

Re: What are your favourite animals?
Unfortunately the cool ones mentioned like wolves, and the lynx were hunted to extinction in Ireland, however there was a sanctuary last year that introduced a few of them back.
We have a lot of foxes though, quite common to see even in urban areas. They've a cool name in Irish as well, sionnach

Re: What are your favourite animals?
Obviously cats! I've always had a fascination with the Lynx, and Bobcat. I've always lived with them, and had strong bonds with my pets.
Aside from that, crows and ravens as well. Amazing creatures, and I love artwork involving them.
And who doesn't think wolves are cool?

Re: Wicca a Guide for the Solitary Practioner
It was probably one of the first five books I read as well, and a recommendation for anyone initially interested in solitary pagan witchcraft. Scott was friends with some well known influential Neopagan authors, who he also trained and circled with, but found more solace working alone, (could've had...

Thanks again for the welcomes! :D @SL Yes, the insular Celtic languages would be what you're looking at, which are the Brythonic(Welsh, Cornish), and Goidelic (Irish, Scots Gaelic, Manx). Scots Gaelic descended from Middle Irish, and would be the one you're after that's used in Outlander that create...

Hail. Sounds like some original names. Do you speak some former language of the Emerald Isle? Hail! Yes, Irish, or Gaeilge in Irish, what many refer to as Gaelic. Everyone has to learn it to some extent in school, but there's been a resurgence in using it recently outside the Gaeltacht(small rural,...

Re: So do you have a wand, an athame, all or nothing at all?
I have both (don't know how to do pics atm) It depends on what I'm doing, but I tend to use my athame more if I'm in, or using a circle. (I don't always, and if so don't use either as well) I remember my early days in training we just had to use our fingers, which still happens if I'm travelling, or...

Heya
Greetings all, I just acquired a Chromebook this holiday season, and am rediscovering the world of online forums! I'm a 36-year-old male hailing from the north of Ireland. I became interested in paganism, and the occult as a teenager in the mid nineties. In the past I've been involved with groups re...
