Re: Imbolc 2017
Avalanche AND burn restrictions (Double whammy! Boo!) keep me from doing my usual thing, but this is my first Imbolc too. :) I went outside and cut some tall dry grass that was growing on the road near my apartment. Used it to make a Brighid Cross and a Brighid Effigy. I put out my green wool blanke...

Ooh, tough question. But, a good one. 1. It's hard to plan my work schedule around a religious holiday that no one else in my community observes, both Esbats and Sabbats. I hate having to cram a good cleansing night under the stars into a 16-hour time span. I literally have to leave work and head st...

I need an alternative Esbat ritual idea.
Hi guys! So, usually for Esbats I pack up and do a day hike and overnight campout, regardless of the weather. In fact, usually I incorporate the weather. For this Esbat, I was really looking forward to building a snow cave and sleeping in it for the night. The problem is, my area received heavy rain...

Deerstep's Esbat Camping Guide
Sometimes, for a religion/spirituality that emphasizes connection with the earth, we sure like being cloistered in our houses and apartments. To keep in touch with Our Dear Old Mom, sometimes it's therapeutic to just jump back into the wild with both bare feet. Most people would argue that 'camping ...

Re: Plans for this Esbat? [11/14/2016]
yeah! I love it ! To me this is the perfect scenario for worship yet I rarely find the time, money, or energy to camp anymore, I go about 2wice a year anymore, but do try to hike out to a particular hill for Moon and Sabbats when I can. Bb, Firebird Weelll, if you're in Southern California, it'd li...

Yule Pomanders!
Despite the name, has absolutely nothing to do with pomegranates. Pomanders are extremely simple decorations that can be adapted to any religion. I honestly have no idea where they came from, but they sure are fun to make. And all they take is a trip to the grocery store. You need; Oranges or Tanger...

Re: Moana
Aaah... the islands... :) :) :) My father lived in Hawaii for a few years. My uncle lived in Tahiti. Growing up, a lot of my bedtime stories were about when my dad was a missionary in the islands. He and my uncle talked about it all the time at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Actually went to see it wit...

Re: Who do you think you were in a past life?
I've been a little nervous about looking into past life regression. I've heard that it's a pretty deep rabbit hole and once you start looking back, it's not something you forget easily. I'm kind of nervous about seeing/remembering past deaths... It's possible I was in a French-speaking country once....

Unless you're Nicholas Cage. Then, it's a terrible idea and is best avoided.

Extremely Easy Homemade Hot Chocolate
This recipe is very simple, and very rewarding. In my book, it is quite superior to any Hot Cocoa mix in a store (I'm lookin' at YOU, Swiss Miss.) Excellent fare for a group of small children (or witches who are young-at-heart) after a hard day of playing in the snow. Best served right after everyon...

Re: Deerstep's Altar-In-A-Drawer
Your altair looks so cool! You actually gave me many ideas of building my own, which right now is in a bad, hidden in the darkest spot of my closet. :-) P.S. I totally love the knife! smileylove Just keep crawling secondhand stores and farmer's markets. Almost everything in my altar never even saw a ...

Deerstep's Altar-In-A-Drawer
IMG_0223.png I keep my altar in a drawer, well-kept and very tidy (as tidy as can be expected, given the space available, at least). I do have a couple of subtle shrines in my room. I have a bible-thumper roommate, and it would be would make my living situation considerably more irritating to expla...

Re: Moon Experiences
Wow, Moon experiences. Ahhh... best time of the month to go camping. I'm a little on the weird side, I celebrate my esbats by taking a huge 15-mile hike to the mouth of the canyon and rolling out a sleeping bag/trail blanket. Sometimes I'll do a ritual, but other times I just meditate and then go to...
