So, as I mentioned in another thread, I went out for coffee with a friend of mine the other day with the specific intent to discuss good books about witchcraft. This friend of mine has been practicing actively for about 20 years and used to work in a wonderful occult shop that used to be in my city (which, unfortunately, has closed down so the owners could concentrate on other things).

This is the list of books we discussed. It is by no means complete, and it's specific in areas to directions of our chat so it's not all encompassing. Only relevant to some people :)

Introductory Books:
Spiral Dance - Starhawk
Witches Bible - Farrar
Witches Goddess - Farrar
Witches God - Farrar
Complete Book of Witchcraft (Big Blue) - Ray Buckland
Cunningham

Herbalism/Crystals:
Master Book of Herbalism - Beyerl
Crystal Bible - Hall

Celtic:
Look for Caitlin and John Matthews (Aquarium Publishing)
High Magick: 11 Lessons - (don't recall author)
Scottish Witchcraft - Buckland

Norse (Not necesserily Asatru):
Northern Mysteries: Leaves of Yggdrasil - Freyja -----
Futhark - Edred Thorsson
The Well of the Wyrd - Thorsson
Runelore - Thorsson

Tarot:
Haindl Tarot (Vol 1 is Major Arcana, 2 is Minor)
AE Waite Tarot book
Book of Thoth - Crowley
Secrets of the Tarot - Edith Gray

Qabbalah/Ceremonial/Good corrospondence tables:
The Book of Law - Crowley
The Book of Lies - Crowley
777 - Crowley

(Can you tell we got talking about Crowley? lol)

Anyway, it's something to look at. Enjoy :)

Note: "Leaves of Yigdrisil" has been renamed "Northern Mysteries and Magick" by Freya Aswynn.

FYI, I've heard really *bad* stuff about the "21 Lessons of Merlin." It garnered much of it's "historical" information from an old hoax. So avoid at all costs!

However, Caitlin and John Matthews do decient stuff. "The Book of Celtic Wisdom" is a great collection, albeit large and rather unwieldy.

I had more books to recommend, but I'm tired and cranky....

so stopping here.
