Killing Cinderella
One emotion has always been missing,
Always wishing for that moment when I’d know what it was like.
Wanting that fairy tale, even trying to create it,
Still I didn’t know how it felt.
Forced to dress up with pretty flowers in my tree bark colored hair,
Wrestled into skirts and bright pink tops, silver cords about my neck,
I wanted them to tighten their hold and lift me off my feet,
Dangle me in the air like a wooden puppet.
(to be continued…)
this came from my free writing the other night when i was trying to rework a different poem
Killing Cinderella
Re: Killing Cinderella
Zili your poem is very good. It seems to have a very ftrong feeliign and emption that something is scearming to get out and wanting to live a fairytale. What I really like is the dialogue that you used.

Re: Killing Cinderella
I like it, Zili. I'd like to see the rest if you finish it.
There's a book called "The Cinderella Complex" that discusses the expectations that girls are taught to have about love, life, children, money, etc, and the path that the majority of women take in life because of these fairy-tale expectations that they have. It's really good. It describes pretty much every woman I know, even me to a large extent (though without the children.) Anyway, if you're interested in that sort of thing, you'd probably like the book. It's usually only one cent at Amazon.com, plus shipping, so it's like $3.00.
