Favorite types of music, bands?

Post by waterglyph »

Okay everyone, what are your favorite types of music, and who are your favorite bands or singers?

I'm pretty eclectic - I like classical music, pop, punk, alternative and some rock. I also like J-pop, hair bands, and other music from "back in the day". (Espically the 70's and 80's.) *lol*

Some of my favorite bands are The Tempations, Powerman 5000, Kene, Bond, The Killers, Whitesnake, Velvet Revolver... I could go on forever I bet.

But I'm going to have to admit, that yes, I like disco, and yes, I like ABBA. I am the Dancing Queen!

I listen to a pretty good variety. Classical, punk, metal, rock, trance, electric etc lol. Pretty much anything short of hip-hop
.
As far as bands, probably my favs would be Switchblade Symphony, A Fire Inside, Blackmore's Night, Moi Dis Mois, Children of Bodom, Rammstein, Coheed and Cambria, Evanescence, My Chemical Romance, Nine Inch Nails, Jack Off Jill, Lamb of God, Avril Lavigne.....
Hmm, was actually trying to keep it short  But thats mostly my favs on those types of music, lol. My roommate's tastes even started rubbing off on me (Pink Floyd, Bowie, Cash, etc)

I love it all! Music was my first career choice (I play drums and guitar) but it is a very difficult path to undertake as a career. So now I just jam with friends every once in a while and sometimes record a little on my own. As a musician it is hard to narrow down my favourites but I'll supply a list:

The Cure
Belle & Sebastian
Stereolab
Laika
Lush
Radiohead
Jane's Addiction
Porno For Pyros
Placebo
Juliana Hatfield
The Cult
U2
Peter Gabriel
Red House Painters
Trembling Blue Stars
Jane Siberry
Ministry
Enigma
Delerium
Patsy Cline
The Exploited
Led Zeppelin
The Doors
Sarah McLachlan
Poe
Dido
Sinead O'Connor
Jah Wobble
Portishead
Rage Against The Machine
Slayer
Suzanne Vega
The Misfits
Danzig
Beethoven
Mendelson
Wagner
Preisner
10,000 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant
Nico
Smashing Pumpkins
Roy Orbison
Bananarama
Frente!
REM
Suicidal Tendencies
Mudhoney
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden (before '94)
Everything But The Girl
System Of A Down
Metallica (before the Black Album)
Beastie Boys
Run DMC
Ratt
Sex Pistols
Dead Kennedys
No Means No
NIN
Butthole Surfers
Jack Scott (50's songs)
Barry White
Filter
Tragically Hip

Sorry this list is out of control but I still feel that some imp't artisits are being left out. As Jim Morrison said, "Music is your only friend, until the end!"

Blessings,
bsp

My history professor plays Hotel California as a 'sound test' for the bus speakers :P He has watched as fewer and fewer people have recongized it, lol. Though after the Hung butchering of it :P
