My Altar-In-Progress
This is my first altar, still under construction! It sits at the foot of my bed, and next to an East-facing window. It's nothing fancy...actually it's a cardboard box and a poster covered with pretty cloth (lol).
The mossy green cloth is actually one of my cloaks that my mom and I made together for a renaissance faire...
As you can see, I haven't actually put anything on the altar yet, because I'm still gathering the things. My Mystic Faerie Tarot deck will be the first thing to appear on it, along with some other odds and ends...
My altar is probably going to look more like a pile of clutter than a sacred space! XD
Just thought I'd share my first project of many as I start down this path.
~Falcon
Update: I actually stopped typing long enough to put the deck on the Altar. Just in case you wanted to see it

I love it. To me it shows how much personalization you are putting into your altar! I hope you will share the progress!

Thank you! Yes, I will definitely post progress pictures. And yeah, I like personalizing it as much as possible. I feel like...the more of myself that I put in it, the more successful any enchantments or rituals may be.

Great start. I cant wait to see how you progress it.

Re: My Altar-In-Progress
So I've *finally* started putting things on my altar. I couldn't find any statues or figurines laying around my room that I liked as my God & Goddess statues...so I used jewelry instead. And actually, I like it a lot.
The top picture is the God jewelry. I felt like the chain-mail and the dragon were very good representations of masculine energy. (Cliche? Maybe. But I like it.)
The second picture is the Goddess jewelry- a crescent moon and an antique key.
And here's a full picture.
I looked off of an altar layout guide, which had the Goddess on the left and the God on the right, but I liked it better when it was switched. Is that okay? Or should they be placed like the layout guide said?

....and now I see how the pictures arranged themselves. So the LEFT picture at the top is the God jewelry and the right picture is the Goddess jewelry. Although you all probably figured that out anyway.

I like that you're using jewelry on your altar. I've got a couple pieces myself that I've been meaning to find a way to use. It looks like you're on your way to a unique altar.

I love this! So much love and magick here. The Mystic Faerie Tarot is the BEST! So glad to see some love for it, it's such a wonderful deck! I love how you're using jewelry, I would never have thought of it and it looks really great. What a clever idea. I love your pentacle, too. I can't wait to see what else you put together!

Re: My Altar-In-Progress
My altar has evolved!! Due to a big cleanup and rearrangement of my room, the cardboard box met a fiery fate. Instead, I upgraded to a dresser. It has drawers for stuff, a nice big tabletop, and a mirror.
My Tarot stuff: cards, journal, book. Also, a quill and ink that I made myself. In front of that is two little clay dishes that I made. One of them holds a quartz crystal, along with some charms that I made out of salt-dough. Next up- yay!! My newest item! I found a little brass (I think) cauldron at a thrift store for less than a dollar.
(Now I've hit my attachment limit, so I'll continue in a second post.)

Re: My Altar-In-Progress
My new little cauldron- I love it.
Then comes my "Cup of Destiny"....a really cool teacup that my great-aunt bought me from a thrift store. (Thrift stores and second-hand shops are the best.) It's used for tasseography- the art of reading tea leaves. I also like to use it with coffee, using the grounds the same way that one would use the loose tea.
And finally, oh joy, my other newest item. My grandmother got me an incense burner from- you guessed it- a thrift store. It's Confucius.

I love the new additions.
