I'd say well thats really interesting that you had other Gods and Goddess visit you. Have you ever wondered to yourself, why these Gods or Goddess choose you? Thats something I myself would, think about..

Well, Anubis because of my soul and my duty to help the dead.
Kali because I share a lot of traits with her and she helps keep me in line.
Then Bast because she helps me understand when to speak and when to listen(like a cat basically) and to embrace my femininity.
Then Shiva because he provides me with information about anything, he's very eager to help.

Yes'm.
But generally, they don't actually say anything, you just know.
A lot like your parents.
You don't ask them certain things because you already know what they'll say or they give you a 'look' which you know means something.

symbols or pictures? Or letters?

Yeah.
It varies depending on who you are.
Most of the time you'll hear a voice or see pictures.

Not so much a soft voice as a stern voice.
Sorta like you will know when their talking to you, kind of thing.
