My first Altar cleansing?
Hi all, I haven't felt ready to cleanse my altar and everything on it (don't ask me why i just didn't lol) until now and now i don't know how to do it. I know you need to cast a circle but what else do you need to do? Thanks everyone! -Willow!! Ps. i forgot to ask if you pass the candles you are using for you're altar through the fire or not? thanks again!

Re: My first Altar cleansing?
Candles (ritual tools) are consecrated through incense and salt water. This combines all four elements; air and fire in incense- water and earth in salt water. Make the sign of the pentacle over them.
The Gods we worship write their names on our faces; be sure of that. A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.

Re: My first Altar cleansing?
That old link didn't work for me so in case someone else has the same problem:
Cleansing & consecrating are 2 different functions. Cleansing removes contradictory energies from shop handling &'daily traffic. Consecrating is to reserve & dedicate something for special use.
To Cleanse: spritz or wipe down the table or tool with holy water. (Holy water: Add 3 pinches of salt to 1/2 cup water)
Then bless wafting incense smoke across all the surfaces of the table or tool.
To Anoint: dab item with holy oil to hold a charge. (Holy oil: add a pinch of salt to a teaspoon of olive oil)
To Consecrate: cleanse & annoint, then "charge" the item with your psychic magnetism. State that the altar or each tool now serves your Craft; immerse a tool in it's associated element (wand-fan with Air, cup-fill with Water, pentacle plate-cover in Earth, blade-quickly pass thru candle flame).
We can cleanse our candles of shop handling energies by wiping down or spritzing each with a salt-water. They are considered consumables & don't need to be consecrated because they are transformed as they're used up.
