I tried meditating to find out what my familiar is and I think I got a white duck. Two other animals appeared -- a pig and a lizard-like creature (I only saw the head) -- but the duck was the only one who talked to me. I kept calling it Sir, so I suppose it's male.
So what should I do know? Should I buy a duck, or should I try talking to Sir Duck again?

Lol, I wouldn't buy a duck 
Try to talk to him again, ask if he has a name etc see why he is your familiar and what he has to teach you.
