Joy of Life and in so Death

Post by Raconteuse »

"Our lives are made by the deaths of others" - Da Vinci

Birth and death are just doors to enter in and exit from the world. Once we move upward from the point of birth, we become fearful of death. "Men fear death as children fear to go into the dark; and as that natural fear in children is increased with tales, so is the other." says Francis Bacon.
Do you know death?

Can any of us say how death is? Even we are unable to experience birth. Your parents might be aware of your birth but can anyone of us describe our own birth? None.

So what are we afraid of? Sometimes we are afraid of our nearest one's death. Sometimes we are afraid for anything worse may happen to your nearest loved one's if we die. Sometimes we hate death since we have just started to live a happy life. There are numerous reasons to be afraid of death. But there is only one reason to be happy to die - death is or could be another beginning to life.

Earth doesn't stop to take check of one person's death. We are creatures and we know that every beginning has an end. Tomorrow even Earth could have an end.

We are in transition....
Just imagine. You are told to live exactly 50 years of life. Your status in life will be your studies, career, marriage, children, and marriages of your children and so on. You are aware of both edges. Then what makes you happy also makes you sad and afraid. What is so troublesome when you reach that final edge? Isaac Asimov said, "Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome."

Why do we recall great people? Our aim in life should be to spread love and joy taking over someone's grief. If you believe in god or gods; love and joy live nearest to the divine. A God doesn't want anything physical. Nature has made Earth beautiful. Humankind is full of emotions that give humans a chance to fill up your life. Any Divine entity would naturally want us to spread love and joy. Once we find a real path to walk, we will never fear death. That is if you are looking at it from a religious or spiritual stand point.

Enjoy life by bringing more joy...
"Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife. The first question was, 'Did you bring joy?' The second question was, 'Did you find joy?'" - Leo Buscaglia

"A man would die, though he was neither valiant or miserable, only upon a weariness to do the same thing so often over and over. It is no less worthy to observe how little alteration in good spirits the approaches that death make; for they appear to be the same men til the last instant" - Francis Bacon

It is true that all of our experiences will not be the same. Some live for a short time and others may live for a longer duration. Death is not a mystery. Every death is directly related to our physical body. Every death has cause. Our Karma (if you believe in it ) or even Fate & accidents invites our end. Living in happiness also includes looking after our health. We just can't avoid accidents which is just plain bad luck. That's why it is stupid and illogical to worry about death. We are abided by some responsibilities to perform. The world has so many expectations from every birth. Take a lead to make other lives happy. Once your body gets wear & tear and touches its limit, death will take you away from the world.

Everlasting life?
One belief regarding life is - we are born with some tasks to complete. Life is a span to complete all the tasks existing in the physical world. Death is a way to an everlasting life. Thus we are transferring our soul from one life to another life... something like from physical to spiritual. The soul never dies. We leave the body on the same earth which we were born with.

That is what is written in one Hindu prayer. Another says,"Lead me from delusion to truth, darkness to light, death to eternal life."

According to Benjamin Franklin, "A man is not completely born until he is dead." It is a mystery. Yet is is unclear regarding wether there are any lives after death. If we believe in science, the human body is mortal, growth always ends with decline and thus every beginning has an end.

One last quote: Socrates said on death, "Death is one of two things. Either it is annihilation, or the dead has no consciousness of anything; or, as we are told, it is really a change: a migration of the soul from one place to another."

This is beautifully written and really does stand true. We don't know what death is. It could be a path to a brilliant afterlife, or it could be to a pain-ridden hell hole. Or we could just cease to exist. But we'll never know, until we experience it, so there really is no point in dwelling on death, as it's an inevitability just as is life. For all we know, life doesn't even end at death. There is, literally in this case, only one way to find out. And we're all going to find out in time. Life and death are the two things that unite all things on this earth, yet we love one and fear the other. When one can find love in both, one can truly enjoy their life.

I'm glad you linked it to bobbi's post, because it means I also got a chance to read this brilliant thread. :) Thanks Racon!
