Is this significant? (past life?)

Post by ViVi »

I just wondered, because this came up at dinner earlier today... I have a little sister. She's eleven now, and she's a serious tomboy. Tracksuit bottoms and men's tshirts errday. Her hobbies and interests are masculine as well. Anyway, my mum told me today that when Kay was about two or three, barely able to talk let alone reason, she used to cry sometimes and get really angry at mum. When mum asked why Kay said she wasn't a girl. Mum said don't be silly, of course you're a girl! Kay cried and cried and said No, I'm a BOY, I REMEMBER being a boy and you don't believe me! (Well, she said it in broken Threeyearold-ese). This went on for quite a while, until she started school. She doesn't remember it at all anymore.

This has freaked my mum out, a LOT. What does it sound like to you guys? Anything? Do toddlers often do things like that? :/

Well you can call it a phase it very well might be, but I tend to think that parents should give a little more credit to their kids than they usually do. You can just support her the best way you can. It will work itself out. I mean, my older sister was a serious tomboy as well, she used to climb trees, etc, she stills likes 'manly' things but I mean if the sexual orientation thing is an issue, my sister is straight. I mean whats there to worry about?

Oh nothing at all! And her sexual orientation doesn't bother me. I'm not worried, just curious. My mum said "Oh well, you know, toddlers do that all the time" but I've never seen a kid have a hissy fit because they used to be the opposite sex.

Yeah, you know I gave one of my sisters a journal for their birthday and it seemed to be just what they needed. You should maybe give one to your little sister and maybe she would be able to explore these emotions on her own. She really could have been a boy in her past life and her being so young when she remembered is still really freaking cool.

My little sister did that too. Shes thirteen and a tomboy now. But shes girly when she wants to be. She used to tell us all these stories about when she was a boy. But now that shes older whenever we mention it she doesnt remember anything about it. Strange.

Maybe your sister is really a boy inside. I am a transsexual I started life as a male. Up until the age of 6 I didnt know i wasnt female. I spent my entire childhood in fear of being something horrible because thats what the world makes you out to be if yoru different. Best thing you can do is always be open and accepting no matter your personal views and opinions. There are too many young people that grow up ashamed of who they are and end of committing suicide. I was fortunate enough to be strong enough to make it through till I could accept myself and say to hell with everyone else. I hope that you guys make things easier on your sister then the way life was made for me.
