We witches honor and celebrate the full moon, the nights when the moon is full are called Esbats. Each phase of the moon has its special meaning to us and our magic.
The new moon is for personal growth, healing, the blessing of new projects or ventures and also love and romance.
The waxing moon is for attraction, expansion, and growth magic.
The full moon is when magic is at its highest, this is the time for protection magic, divination, and banishing unwanted influences is your life. Also love, dreams, and wishes. The full moon is a good time for any kind of spell.
The waning moon is for banishing negative influences, addictions, illness, and negative emotions or mental states.
And finally, the three days before the new moon is known as the dark of the moon. During those nights there is no moon up in the sky. Its a time for resting, thinking, and healing. Here's a link to learn more about The Dark of the Moon.
Note: The strongest of magic is done three days before the full moon, the night of the full moon and three days after the full moon (7 day total).
