Freaky Witches

Post by Moon_Stone »

Ok, I just have to know... (I don't get out much)... I have a wiccan store in my area, that's been around a long time... and it's staffed with the freakiest witches I've ever met. Anyone else have this problem?

Really, I mean freaky. I was surprised they didn't try to sneak into my trunk as I was leaving. One of them was compelled to tell me her life story (darn near everything...) while the gentleman attached himself to my close friend and wouldn't stop criticizing him! (That man had really negative energy. Bouncing all around the room, it was nasty.)

Weird. So, am I the only one with this problem? I haven't been back, even though they have wonderful supplies... Do you guys think they just might be a bit over-zealous? Maybe he was just having a bad day? I haven't a clue. But there was definitely some bad energy coming from the gentleman.

Poo. My local store has to be full of a strange-sort.

I can't say I've been put in that situation. Most people just tend to avoid me ^^;

But if they have good supplies, go back, and if somebody starts gabbing and it annoys you, just tell them, "I'm here to shop not listen to you." ...and if you are anything like me, you'll end up throwing various profanities in there if you are mad.

But this is just my advice. You may not be that type of person to tell someone off like that. If so, Sorry I wasted thread space.

Oh ya, I can do that. Yeppers.

I think I just need to go in there in a darkened robe, with a tail attached, hop on one foot, gurgle, and get the shopping done. Too bad my "connections" are so odd!

(I was going to try the healing circle until "she" at the counter mentioned to me that the instructor/leader of the circle is moving out of state so he can go nurture his brain tumor and herpes. Yep, brain tumor and herpes. Herpes ?!? Do I need to know this?!?) So had I of attended, it would have been short lived. (because of the moving, not the tumor-thing.... geeze, that sounded bad...) blue_blank

Thanks for the advice, Wolf. I might just have to try it, when I'm in one of my "moods".

There is one store in Colorado I can't even walk into. I can feel the negative energy as soon as I get close to it. I do like to store theme, egyptian, but if I go in there is the promise of a killer migraine.

Anyone else encounter this problem?

Well, here in London, Canada we are blessed with two witch shops and two new age centres. One of the witch shops I do not recommend whatsoever. It sounds a little similar to MoonStone's California store. It is run by Momma Hen witch who employs her son and her daughter at the shop. They are simply quite wierd. If you ask for an ingredient, they are like, "Whooo, What's that for, I hope you're not going to. . . " They almost try to talk you out of buying anything and then they try to get you to go to their functions--like dances and things. The head witch here is a control freak and thinks she knows it all. I never go there as their store smells like feces and all their supplies are filthy and covered in dust.

Fortunately, our other witchy shop called "Mystic Bookshop" is phenomenal. In fact, I consider the witches who run this store among my best friends and the owner is a major mentor of mine. If you are ever in the area I cannot emphasize enough how awesome the Mystic Bookshop is. I usually go at least once a week, even just to hang out--they don't mind!!!

MoonStone, your story is hilarious and I hope that you can a find a way to "fit in" with these folks!!!

Blessings,

I don't get why so many witches feel the need to dye their hair black, look goth, wear all black with crazy silver jewelry, bright red (or black) lipstick, black eyes, etc. You know the type. I'm guessing at least half the people on this board are that way. I can see the allure, I suppose. If you are different, you want people to KNOW you are different. But then these are the same people who complain because they can't get a job or other people treat them badly or won't talk to them. Well, hmm... if you look like a scary freak, people are not going to feel very friendly towards you, espcially when you are wearing your "gloomy face" and looking all sad and depressed because the world hates you. Get over it, please. You can look and act normal and still practice witchcraft, believe it or not. I have also found that a lot of witches are into BDSM (crazy sex shit). I'm guessing the witchcraft came AFTER they got into the kinky sex practices though because it seems to compliment that lifestyle to be able to say "I want to tie you up and whip your ass and I'm a witch too." Makes sense.

Well, I personally just like the style of it. I don't dress like that cuz I dont have any of those clothes but I would if I had them lol. I'm the type of person that wears what they are feeling so my clothing type is always changing.

I don't dress the way i do because I'm a witch/occultist/whateverthefuck. I dress in all black because I just like to, I despise bright colors, and I am not generally a happy peppy person, crazy yes, but not perky. I am what most call dark. But do I attribute this to being a pagan? No, not in the least. That is a spiritual path and has nothing to do with the way I dress. I have never heard anyone say they dress as they do because they are a witch....well except for that crazy lady in Salem...but thats another story. But I'm sure there are people out there that say they dress in the gothic style because they are a witch, and I think everyone of them deserves a swift kick in the teeth, as do the people that think all magick practicianers wear only black.

But I'm rambling now and if I don't stop myself, I'll continue for pages to come, so I'll end it there.

If your talking about the customers that come up to you go in on a school day so its less quite. If its the staff go in on a saturday when its busy so they talk to the other customers and if its that bad just say an invisibility chant to yourself.

Good suggestion, Alahandra. I still haven't been back... and it was a Saturday. :( (The male clerk (it was the staff that was crazy, not the customers... in fact there weren't any real customers....) inside the store that had "attached himself" to my friend immediately peeled the velcro off when a younger man came in, so he could "follow and watch with his third eye to make sure he doesn't steal" as the clerk said.) Yeargh!

So far as the 'goth' dress, I used to lean that way in high school, and I'm still partial to black as is, but I see the beauty of color as well. (Actually my favorite fuzzy shirt and soft pants as winter-wear happen to be green and brown. Everyone who sees me wearing them say I look like a tree). I think most of the "gothics" are looking to make a statement more than anything else. (You know, the completely decked out costumes with the extra white make-up and all that). But hey, there's nothing wrong with that. To each their own. I agree though-- that's just a preference, definitely not a demonstration of what Witches are "supposed to" look like.

Hmmm- BDSM (Bondage/Domination/Sado-Massochism for those who aren't familiar with the abbreviation...) It's suprising to learn that a lot of Witches are into this- I'd say definitely porn stars, yes- but Witches? I think the Witches who advertise their proclivity to this lifestyle may just be trying to make an "image". I don't see any real correlation between Witchcraft and whips and chains.

I wear a small gold pentacle necklace (I finally found one when I was in Salem, Mass!) but I dress normal and don't wear all black or anything goth like that, so no one stares at me. If you have purple or green hair with black streaks in it and you are wearing all black with tons of silver jewelry and pentacles and those awful looking black leather with silver studded bracelets with those pointy things, etc etc, yeah people are bound to stare at you. But in my opinion, people who dress that way are obviously trying to draw attention to themselves so why shouldn't other people stare at them? It's what they want, isn't it? Like those boys that have the 3 foot afro hair - they are doing that for attention, so I stare at them and laugh. Same goes for that crazy Christian guy that stands on the street corners in my town and holds up Christian signs and hollers at people about the end of the world. I yell back at him (and stare and laugh). He's there for the attention. If people didn't want the attention, they would try to blend in a bit better and not draw so much attention to themselves. There are ways to express your individuality without drawing a lot of attention to yourself. :)

True, - but Moonlit is right too. My method of dress is just about as "mom at the mall" as you can get (for the weekends, anyway)... and I am still stared at (and actually treated differently too) whenever I wear my pentacle where it's visible.
So sad but true, I actually pin it to my bra when I go out most of the time-- it's just so sad that so many people have such an issue with the symbol of all things... and I definitely don't want to have any spit in my soup, so it stays in the bra. :(
