I like and understand exactly what the author is saying. As someone in a Heathen path I honor the ancestors pretty regularly with thought and in weekly offerings. These are friends and family I have known and those who I haven't. For me it's not about knowing where they were from or what I am but that they, at some point in the past, were daily worshiping the gods in a way that has been lost. I ask them, especially my disir for guidance and suggestions. This is for spell work as well.

There is nothing wrong with the authors practice but for me I do go back as far in thought as I can to kin I don't know so I can get information from them since most of my recent relatives were Christian.
