I don't have a wand, but I have to thank you for your questions, they gave me a good idea on making one

Re: How do you like your wand ???
For now my wand is a simple small limb that fell off of my Dogwood tree. I've not embellished it any but I would like to. My bf wants to help me find one that is a bit thicker & he's gonna help me with it. He's very smart & good at making things
Re: How do you like your wand ???
I don't have any wands or use them, yet anyway.

Re: How do you like your wand ???
I prefer to make my own tools when I can, however this is not always doable.
I have always been a big Harry Potter fan (which funny enough has nothing to do with how I got into Wicca and witchcraft), and for one of my HP-themed birthday parties my mom and I went to a local woodshop and asked the woman there to turn wands as party favors. She was going to charge $5 per plus cost of wood, but in the end she said she had so much fun making them she only charged us for the wood! She made each one as a thin, tapered dowel fit into a wider, turned handle something like this http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jTdy9lGTIzA/U ... 12+015.jpg but not quite. The one I felt drawn to was a dark walnut where the handle and stem woods matched. It has no crystals, it's just the wood. I have made a few wands since this one came into my possession, but I always come back to this one. Perhaps I will try to get a picture of it later.
I know if I could choose to make a wand any way I like it would differ in many ways from this one I use, but at the same time I now have a history with this wand, and our connection goes back to my childhood in a way no other wand could.
I've seen a wand around recently that I have my eyes on, but I can't bring myself to buy it because if I am going to have another wand, I want to make it. It's beautiful, though, made of driftwood... this is not it, but it's something like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/90913694/cr ... ome_active
My favorite thing about it is where it once had little twigs branching off there are smaller quartz crystals nested in those spaces. It's beautiful and I would like to make something like that, but I think it could only be for a certain kind of magic. I don't know. I can do lots of thinking about magic but it always end up being more about feeling and intuition.

Re: How do you like your wand ???
Those were cool, reminds me of the wands in Harry Potter...
I'm still working on them despite not taking them to the
Pagan Pride Festival I went to last week !
I'm working on two stalks of cherry wood right now,
I think I'm going to leave one bare like it is, just a clear
coat...? I've got to get the camera out to photograph
the last 3 or 4, I made not listed in my wand thread.

An athame is a suitable/popular substitute (and using your finger works in a pinch). Though they say the fae will flee from a witch carrying an athame so if you work with fairies you may want to make one or pick one up.Holdasown wrote:I don't have any wands or use them, yet anyway.
