Hunter of the Night

Hunter of The Night

By Sara Marsano Bouchard

Soft rain pats the ground
As the moon shares its light.
Her silent wings have no sound
She's a hunter of the night.

Her talons sharp like a leopards tooth
Her beak is sharp as well.
She patiently waits eyeing the roof
Like she’s under someone’s spell.

A tiny mouse drinks
While it patters along the drain.
The water's nice and cool
From the still falling rain.

Her wings unfold
As she dives to the house.
Then all to quickly
She scoops up the mouse

Her eyes glow orange
Her feathers ripple in flight.
She coos of victory
And disappears back to the night.
Through the spilling ice, and glowing fire,
I have the heart of the wolf, and the strength of a tiger.
