My fist guess is some kid of Myrtle

Does it have a fragrance? Or can you describe the flowers?

Not 100% if it has a distinct fragrance. And there were no flowers to speak of, but it had these hard "berries" in bunches on the branches that I suppose could turn into flowers.

After looking online, a myrtle looks the closest that I've found. They were in a local park in western kentucky planted around the edges of a small lake. I felt a strong connection to one in particular, so I'm trying to find out as much as I can about it.

https://www.google.com/search?q=myrtle+ ... rtle+seeds
Look at these seed pods, the berries of a myrtle are usually deep purple, but the seed pods sometimes look like hard berries. The bark of your tree and the way it grows from basal root sprouts is what makes me think it is myrtle, but the leaf size( kind of large) and leaf arrangement is is a bit off. But every other part seems like myrtle, and there is a gozillion kinds.
Myrtle is a wonderful plant and has quite a bit of lore.

After looking at the berry pictures, I'm 100% positive it is a type of Myrtle. Thanks!

I'm going to be researching on it now and what properties it holds and such. Its a very hard and beautiful wood and I'd very much like to make a wand from it, and as I feel a connection with it, I feel as though the tree wouldn't mind. I'll be sure to ask first though ;)

I hope you share your findings. We don't have large myrtle bushes here, and it's a "stranger" to me. This sounds like the beginning of a lovely working relationship between you two.

I will most definitely! And I'm hoping so :)

Also, the girl in the picture is not me. I'm a big bearded man lol. She just happened to take a photo with "my tree" so I used it. Irrelevant to the conversation, but I don't want people to think I'm a young girl lol

Ha ha...ya I pretty much thought the girl was you.
I'm thinking too, that this is a crepe myrtle. Either way, looks like it would make wonderful staves also.
You in Kentucky too? Or just the tree...

It would make fantastic staves, but I have little use for one at this point in life or at this point in my practice.

I am not from Kentucky. I am from Illinois. However, I live on this river that separates the 2 states lol. This tree in Kentucky is about a 25 minute drive.

Well, as she (I get a feminine sense from the tree) did not drop any branches, I asked for a limb for a wand so that we may work together and felt an almost overwhelming sense of joy, so I'd say that was a hard "yes" lol

I began working on the wand yesterday, and will be finishing up today I think. I got a nice quartz crystal that spoke to me for the tip as well.

I think it should come along nicely :)

This is my first attempt at making one. I'll post pictures when I have it mostly finished, of course!

I got the wand finished. I have to say it came out beautifully (to me, which is what counts I suppose). I would like to put something around where the wood meets the quartz crystal, but I haven't decided on what yet.

I took the bark off of everything but the handle. Sanded it down smooth, tapering from the handle to the tip. Dremmeled out the tip to fit the quartz crystal in and glued it in place. Carved a pentacle into the bark handle. Torched the bark handle to make it darker. Put on a few layers of beeswax to seal it and bring out some of the more hidden colors of the wood and to add a nice texture. Overall, its a beautiful wand.

Also, I will post pictures when I get home. :)
