I think that the global warming is a cyclical event. It goes with our Ice Ages. We have them every 100,000 years or so. We left our last ice age about 10,000-12,000 years ago, so yes our climate is warming and will do so for about 90,000 more years. Is mankind having an impact on our environment? Yes, we have been impacting our environment for millions of years, but especially since we started farming and the domestication of live stock.

Greetings Palefaces,
My people have been around for 30,000 years on this continent. We have many years of weather wisdom passed down among our people. We gave Ben and Thomas the Confederation of the Iroquois to use as the basis of your Constitution and Ben gave us the basis of the Gulf Stream to use in our climate models. We've moved south in front of a large glaciation and back north at the end of the last interglacial starting some 11,000 BCE. We've seen large migrations of, and extinctions of large creatures during this trudging back and forth. We have seen the fishing and hunting patterns change. We have always found a way to eat. And not eaten real well, for the first tens of years, after you pushed us from our lands. But we've always found ways to eat well after a few tens of years. I suppose you will look to have us teach you again. I don't know that we should but, we probably will. We can't stand to see our fellow man suffer, no matter the color of his skin or what he has done to us in the past. And they call us savages.

Well, my favorite beach used to be hugely wide. It was a race to get across the expanse of burning hot sand.
Now its about 10 steps.
The north end of the beach was a great lesser visited area. It had always been much narrower. Many big and expensive houses pack the north end with only a couple beach access sidewalks between the homes. Well their Beach is all gone now, and giant boulders are in place to hopefully protect these homes.
But the thing that has me really convinced is the super strange weather we have been having. Seasons are arriving earlier than they used to by about 2 weeks to a month and this particular area has never been terribly humid but the last several Summers have been torturous with humidity unlike anything we've ever seen.
We also usually get a pretty good freeze or two in the winter. Not in about 5 or more years now.
yeah it's changing.

Without any doubt the human carbon footprint is responsible for global warming. We are beginning to feel the consequences with severe weather phenomenon, agriculture is suffering as flood and drought ravage the Ag belt and tropical insects move north. If we look at the numbers and geological evidence only an idiot will dispute the problem. We are reverting to a Tribal society where-in the collective opinion of the tribe supersedes common sense of the individual. The naysayers thumping their bibles proclaim man cannot damage the handy works of God so the mindless masses continue their devastating behavior and remain a plague upon the planet. These people will not change and we are soon beyond the point of no return when global heating will make life impossible. The consequences of rising ocean temperatures will probably cause so much adversity for the human population that long before the earth becomes a new Venus we will not survive international conflicts. As a scientific person I do not believe in global warming I KNOW it is in progress.

How can anyone seriously say climate change isn't man-made? Sure, there are cyclical changes anyway, but those changes we experience right now have come in a much faster and much more extreme way, which isn't "normal". Even if there wasn't extreme weather and rapid melting of the polar ice caps, wouldn't it be enough that we destroy our planet anyway? Here in Germany 85% of all insects and birds have vanished since the 1980's (of course, this is not only the case here). We cut down the lungs of the earth because we still think money is the most important thing in the world, we use our oceans as dumps and erase one species after the other...maybe it is high time we, that the "pride of creation" ...(sorry, I need a short break, I have to laugh so hard) vanishes from this planet. And yes, nature and the planet don't need us - it is the other way round. However, I'm glad that there are people in the US who have a brain, in comparison to certain other people in that country.

It depends.
The phrase "Global Warming" is useless. It was chosen by the internationalist-socialist to be intentionally ambiguous, so that they could use it to make emotional arguments instead of scientific arguments. I have a degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management with a dual emphasis in population genetics and ecology. Thing is..... I earned that degree way back when facts mattered in universities. I have read over 200 published and unpublished scientific papers on anthropogenic climate pressure and I've yet to see any reliable scientific proof that humans have any effect on overall global climate.... only theories. Yes there is 'evidence'... just not proof. Bear in mind that there is also evidence that Bigfoot has a written language, and that Elvis works in the burger king drivethrough in Paduka Kentucky.

I know that this community portends to be inclusive and open minded, but I have been a 'global warming' dissenter long enough to know what 95% of you reading this are muttering under your breath, and preparing to type. Save your keystrokes. I will not be reading or responding to this thread past this post, because experience has taught me that logic based arguments won't counter emotional arguments... and I've been down that road literally hundreds of times.... just mark my educated vote as 'no', please.

Hummm, indeed.
Apparently mr Pallando lives in an area that hasn't been affected. :surprisedwitch: It takes years and years to see it.
No emotional response here just observation of physical changes.
By the way Shekinah, did Irma affect you there very badly?

The planet goes through cycles for sure, however we have something in play that was not there before, and that is the alterations humanity has made in the chemical makeup of the oceans and atmosphere. To deny this is ignorant and dangerous. We should stop these destructive habits regardless of whether or not the warming cycles are 'natural'.

Honestly, I don't believe in it as promoted by the media. I've studied meteorology, and part of that was also studying the climate. Mother Earth's climate has fluctuated from warm to cold, and back to warm again for millennia. Tropical fossils have been found in Canada, while there is also evidence of prior ice coverage at the equator.

When we have quiet years (meteorologically speaking), you won't hear much about "climate change." But during more active years, you hear a lot about it. "More destructive hurricanes" and "more tornadoes," as if these things didn't happen before. Technology has advanced a lot in the last 70 years. There is more accurate reporting of these destructive storms today, thanks to satellite and radar, as well as more people living in areas prone to severe weather.

For example, we didn't realize the frequency of tornadoes in Oklahoma at the time of statehood like we do now. But because of advancements in technology, the increases in population in tornado-prone areas (more sightings), and storm spotters/chasers (like myself and my wife) who make it a point to watch for or hunt these storms, we realize that Oklahoma has a lot of tornadoes. It's not that "climate change" is increasing the frequency of storms, it's that more people are noticing and reporting them. The National Weather Service even admits this, at least for the period of time since 1950. Even where populations are scarce, radars are picking them up and are programmed to automatically alert forecasters based on certain signatures and anomalies.

There was once a time when hurricanes went through entire life cycles without being noticed unless there was a ship in the area or it made landfall somewhere people lived. It's not that there are more, they are all seen now whereas they weren't just a hundred years ago thanks to the advances in technology. And big ones have always occurred, as well.

Another thought on the topic, a single volcano eruption spews more and pollutants into the air than mankind has since the beginning of time. As far as greenhouse gases go, carbon dioxide is pretty important...plants need ample CO to help with photosynthesis. This is important to us for obvious reasons...food, herbs, etc.

Now that I've gone full nerd (never go full nerd  ), from a spiritual standpoint, whether or not we agree on the theory of "climate change," or "global warming" ("global cooling" for blizzards and frost in Florida), we should always do our best to take care of our wonderful Mother Earth. 8-)

this is a good point. Sure the planet has been in flux since it's birth tho we do not know what caused these changes exactly ie; volcanos, earthquakes, meteors, floods etc... If a volcano blotted out the sun, then the plants won't grow and all the Dino's die, if the earth switches polarity then Big changes are in store, maybe that's what happened to Dino.
I do believe we are hastening the processes :?

exactly what I said. And no matter what people believe or not: we don't care a bit about our planet, this is quite clear by now. If we haven't caused climate change, we'll be finished with our planet pretty soon  ... or the planet with us.
I think it is naive and plain denial to say this is all natural and it can't be proven. Open your eyes. The discussion itself is absolute useless...yes, flat earth. :annoyed:

Note on the Dinosaurs. There extinction was actually a perfect storm their last 6 - 7 million years. It usually takes more then one thing to drive a species to extinction. Dinos are no exception. At about 71,000,000 BCE, a fair size asteroid broke up in the atmosphere and one large piece hit in Illinois and Indiana. The rest broke up and pelted the entire East coast of USA { to be}. This had all the nasty things that come from an asteroid strike. The continents were also moving. This caused a land bridge to form between Asia and North America. It also closed the Panama Sea. It became the bridge to South America. The dinos could mix from continent to continent. This caused another major set of problems. The disease types were different and so were the parasites. Populations with no immunity to each others diseases now mixed. New and different predators were cross populated. This caused the types of Dinos to become very limited. From a high of 25 to 30 species living at any one time, it went to 7 species. { this was for Dinos the size of medium to large raptors - 4 feet long and 75 to 100 pounds and larger}. Into this wonderful set of circumstances, Drop the Chicxulub Asteroid at 65 million before present and you get the end of the dinos. They might have struggled through , but this asteroid was bigger and hit in one piece. This has the effect of causing Antipodal earthquakes and volcanoes. And not just any type of eruptions. This was the Deccan traps that cover a large area on the Indian sub-continent. It was a flood basalt mass approx. 6,600 feet thick and covering 200,000 square miles. It was also sulfur rich. That puts more sun blotting particles in the air than any other type of eruption. It puts sulfuric acid in the acid rain that falls as the atmosphere is clearing up. This serves to poison the oceans in the zone that is heavy in plankton. That will decrease the O2 levels by 20 to 30 %. It would have been a miracle if the dinosaurs didn't go extinct.
