As far as I know, "mojo" beans are ordinary black beans, and beans are a culinary staple, and therefor a powerful symbol that brings potency to spells. I suppose beans go by many names where ever they grow. All beans are useful spell items to bring fertility, power of growth, etc. The broad bean or fava bean for examplewith its moon-like color and crescent shape, is an italian magic counterpart, and like all beans is used to make wishes come true. Beans, as seeds, represent the seeds of new ideas and goals. I would think a black bean would be associated with protection, and over coming or dominating a situation. Witches would use whichever bean they had available.

Honestly, I would just get a bag of dried, mixed beans at the grocery store, although one year I did plant and harvest some favas. They were a pain to clean, and those tough pods would represent some powerful protection.
