Where are the Robins this year?

Post by SpiritTalker »

I’ve not seen more than a few robins since April, and I’ve been used to dawn karaoke robin calls for years, but either they aren’t singing or aren’t there.

I was wondering the same about the Jay birds, kinda miss their noisy entry into the yard.
We have mostly sparrows, was nine of them in the bird bath this morning, then later a raven came for a drink.
Saw robins at my friends house, she is closer to open space than I am.

Blue jays here had a disease 5 years ago that reduced the population in MI, but they’ve made a come back.

Only see robins during the winter months in Texas.

There's an overabundance of blue jays at my house. We always have them, but this year they've been having more babies than usual.

These past few months I keep seeing a male and female with their two babies on my front porch, screaming and eating all the cat food. The babies are so annoying, these great big boogers, still screaming for food and trying to plant it in the cracks in my decking. And because the parents have an extra baby to feed, they've been taking them in the backyard and teaching them to steal my blackberries. So if anyone has a shortage of them, they're at my place, camped out and eating everything in sight.

That's a neat website. I didn't know what kind of blue bird we have. We've always just called them blue birds without being specific. But now I know they're called scrub jays.

Always good to learn something new. 😊

I like all the owl 🦉 sounds. Musta spent an hour listening to bird sounds on that site.
Just up the hill (like towards Tahoe) you'll find the stellar Jay. They tend to hang out at slightly higher elevation.
Blessed winged ones.
Wonder what's up with SpiritTalkers robins. The weather has been weird all over. Maybe they left early.
We have a raven that has decided he likes the tiny birdbath in the front. That bath has been there for over 10 years and I never saw a corvid in it before. I hope he/she is nesting away from our house! (I have experienced family passing away when they nest in trees on our property)
