Hi everyone,
I’ve got a question - I’d like to know peoples thoughts/advice - what would you do?
Every year for the past 3 years, I’ve had an animal die in October, usually close to Halloween/Samhain.
This holiday/season used to be my favorite. I used to celebrate and decorate and enjoy the holiday.
Now I get instantly depressed on the first day of October - I’m waiting for the next death to happen.
We rescued a 14 year old dog whose health is steadily declining - this isn’t anything new.
But I’m scared he’s going to die on Halloween.
I don’t know whether to celebrate the season, decorate and do all of the things we do for Samhain.
Or do I just hunker down and try to get through this month with no deaths?
Is my celebrating the season inviting Death to my front door?
Does any of my fear seem founded?
I just need some advice.
Thank you everyone.

Re: To celebrate or not?
Change the focus to rebirth and renewal as Samhain is also the new year.

It would be an excellent time to honor the the departed fur family. Samhain can be hard. It's a bit of a reality check, reminding us to savor life while it is here. If the dog feels fine now I wouldn't project that energy into the future. Focus on the now and celebrate when the day arrives with goodies for the dead.
