Good morning, everyone, and thank you for letting me join the forum.

A little bit about me:

47 year old female, living in the UK. Hobbies and likes are probably much the same thing - books, films, music, long walks, new places, unexpected views when going somewhere new, friendly cats and dogs, friends! Missing muchly at the moment as we've been shielding since March and haven't been able to visit our friends in the flesh - phone contact has been good, though. Interest in witchcraft since childhood but haven't really explored that fully. I do enjoy being creative, make do and mending (not very well a lot of the time but it does the job). I love beaches, open fields and woodland areas, old buildings, ghost stories, interesting characters (the kind you get around town that everyone knows). Sunshine. Missing that just now.

Dislikes - too much noise/traffic/hustle and bustle. Selfishness in others. Plastic over everything.

Who I am is slightly up for debate at the moment and is the main reason I've arrived here. After a lifetime of never quite fitting in or belonging and many different attempts to change that (career girl, party girl, mature student etc) and much dabbling in things like shamanism, taoism, buddhism, new age/spiritual stuff and various other things, none of which quite hit the spot, I've found myself to be happiest and healthiest since we started shielding. It's the opposite to many people's experience, I know, but it made me realise that it's modern society that I don't fit in with, and its many and varied demands.

Anyhoo, I've spent more time reading more about things I am interested in - nature, moon cycles, tides and the sea, witchcraft, witch trials and various other things and Wicca kept popping up alongside many of those things. Whether it is a good fit for me I don't know, but I'm interested to learn more and have already had a read of some of the threads on here which are very interesting and informative. So I'm looking forward to learning more and maybe asking some questions along the way as I work on developing myself at home.

That's a bit long - sorry! Nice to meet you all anyway, thanks for letting me join.

Greetings! I concur with much of what you said.
I remember the beginning of the lock down when the planes were grounded, how quiet it was. That was nice.

Thank you, Firebird :) The initial quiet of lockdown was heavenly. I live on a busy housing estate with a path running past my front windows that has a bus stop at one end and a school at the other, so you can imagine the constant stream of people walking past. Two sides of the estate are bordered by busy roads as well so the hum of traffic is constant as well. By day two of the lockdown (the first one, we're on our second here now) you could taste and smell that the air was cleaner and I was pegging washing out in the garden when a bird flew overhead. I heard its wings flap and I've honestly never heard that sound before in my life. It made me want to move to a deserted island somewhere! Instead I'm trying really hard to focus on things like bird song when I go for my morning walk and to learn to ignore the sound of the traffic. Getting there slowly :) Thanks for the welcome.
