Thank you for accepting me

Post by Historyman »

I am a 72-year-old who has never really embraced any organised “standard” religion. As long as I can remember I’ve always had a pretty firmly established belief in right and wrong with a large side order of helping people when I can.

Whilst scudding around the Internet a couple of weeks ago, I found a reference to Wicca and witchcraft. I’d heard of both, of course, but had never really delved into either. But this really caught my attention, and since then I have done little else but read about both. And boy, does it resonate!

Working on the principal that it is never too late to learn and change direction, I have begun my wicca/witchcraft journey. I know nothing, I know that I know nothing, and am thoroughly enjoying learning.

Having continued my Internet hunt, I have found a few forums, but I felt drawn to this one, and I thank you for having me.

In Wicca, discovering the religion in old age is considered the second best outcome other than finding it as a child. It has some very exceptional advantages like the fact that you've already overcome the fear of death (or you're preparing to), and that your entire life is already filled with experiences that you can instantly draw upon as a resource for your spells.

Unlike children, however, the elderly also are without the need of innocent play and curiosity, so you can actually skip right past all the introductory stuff and get straight to what it's all about in no time. Then you can take all that with you into the next life and get the best of both worlds. Peace and blessed be!
