One who cared

Post by thatguy »

The sleeping are blessed.

the fortunate pretend to sleep,
the monsters won't touch their wallets,
their smiles stolen from the desperate,

the wakeful turn their backs,
in the pockets of their thick coats
they clutch their tickets tightly,

the foolish steal what is gladly given.

There's no-one there now.

Was she really there? Or her? Or her?

The foulness is always with me,
it cares,

attentive,
watching all my dreams,
sharing all my moments,

What I learn, the foulness learns.

I used to collect the true sunshine,
the gladness,

Rotten as I am,
more rotten as I was,
I shared my bounty.

I used to love.

The foulness whispered my name,

the fortunate heard:
"misfortune"

the desperate heard:
"shhhh, or else"

the wakeful heard:
"don't look"

the foolish heard:
"you are the foulness"

and through its cunning, my light went out.

Having no rival,
The foulness knows me best.
