"Mabon" by Laura Pelick
Hi
everyone, this is Heather from
Everything Under the Moon.
My husband and I went to the NOPI National Car Show in
Atlanta this past weekend and guess who I met? Hulk Hogan and his family!
Hulk's wife Linda even agreed to take a picture with me! :) That was really
cool. If you want to see the pictures of Hulk, Linda (and me!), and their
son Nick at the car show, you can visit my
NOPI Car
Show link. It has nothing to do with witchcraft and spells, but I think
it's cool. My husband Ron got to have his picture made with lots of hot car
models, so all of you guys out there should check that out. If you want to
see the actual car pictures (and more models), check out
Ron's NOPI page
on his site, which is much larger than mine (over 300 pictures on 20 pages!)
On to the spells... I'm going to post two spells this time
because it's been a couple of weeks since I've sent out the newsletter. The
first spell is a nice little wish spell I found that I like. The second one
is a knot spell for banishing problems that sounds like it should be quite
effective if you do the visualization well and put your energy into it like
it says to. I could really use that spell to get rid of the mean feelings
I'm having towards my neighbor, who is a total bitch. Maybe I could just get
rid of HER instead of getting rid of my feelings for her. It wouldn't be the
first time I banished an awful neighbor (or the second time, for that
matter!) lol.
The Wishing Well
Take any large bowl. Drip a few drops of different colored
candle wax in the bottom of the bowl, then adhere a white candle to that
spot. The different colors represent diverse needs and goals, while the
white binds this variety together in harmony. Each morning, light the candle
when you get up and put a coin in the bowl. Make your wish for the day. Blow
out the candle before you leave the house. Whenever you desperately need to
have a wish fulfilled, remove a coin from the bowl and either plant it in
rich soil (houseplants will do) or throw it into moving water so that your
message of need will be carried through the earth. When the bowl is filled
with coins, use all but a few (these "seeds" always remain in your bowl) for
random acts of kindness, like getting treats for the neighborhood kids or
helping a homeless person. Your generosity will return to you threefold to
keep the magic of benevolence, both mundane and divine, with you always.
Destructive Knot Spell
If there is a situation, problem, or possible menace you are
facing, here is a knot spell to help.
Take a cord and firmly visualize the problem in all its agonizing detail.
Become emotional about it; seethe with anger, crumble into tears, whatever
works.
Then firmly tie the knot. Walk away from it, out of the room if possible.
Take a shower, eat, do whatever will get your mind off the spell and allow
you to relax.
When your emotions are stabilized return to the knot. With calm and peace
untie the knot.
See the problem vanishing; dissolving into a dust that is swept away by the
cleansing, refreshing North wind.
It is done.
Tomorrow is the first day of fall, known to pagans as the
Autumn Equinox or "Mabon". I hope everyone enjoys it and I'm sure many of
you will decide to do something special to honor the God/Goddess and the
Earth on this day. Here are some facts about this holiday and some ideas of
things you can do to commemorate it. I found these online and you will find
much more if you look up "Mabon" in Google.
-
It is the second harvest, and the Goddess mourns her fallen
consort, but the emphasis is on the message of rebirth that can be found in
the harvest seeds.
-
Decorate the house with dried and colored ears of corn to
remind yourself and your home of the end of the harvest season.
-
Again, the day and night are of equal length, and we give
thanks for the last fruits of the harvest.
-
Often referred to as the "witches thanksgiving".
-
Mabon is also the Welsh God of Fertility.
-
Mabon marks the end of the second harvest, a time when the
majority of crops are gathered.
-
The Goddess enters the "Crone" stage at this time.
-
At the Autumn Equinox, the days and nights are equal. It is
a time of balance, but light gives way to increased darkness.
-
It is a good time to walk the forests, gathering dried
plants for use as altar decorations or herbal magick.
-
Cornbread and cider are good additions to festivities and
fall leaves make good altar decorations.
All of the stuff below was in the last newsletter, but I'm
posting it again since so many new people have signed up since then.
I have added lots of new spells to the website in the past
week. You may not be aware, but when you are on the Book of Shadows page on
the site, you can click any of the headings to go to a page that lists the
spells under that heading. The headings don't look like links, so you
probably never tried to click them. There are also two main spells pages,
which I have linked to below, plus a Love Spells page that lists all the
love spells.
Click the links below to visit any of these pages:

Disclaimer
to the Book of Shadows page to explain a bit about the spells and why I
don't generally answer specific questions about the them. Please read that before you
write to me to ask me about the spells.
Enjoy the holiday!
