Calligraphy Piece #1: The Witches' Rune (+ giveaway!)
Hi everyone! I have been interested in calligraphy since I was 8 or 9, but only started doing it regularly. I've been practicing bastarda script (a 14th century cursive Gothic script) and using a dip pen on multipurpose paper (essentially watercolor paper). Although I am still very much an amateur, I'm finally confident enough in my calligraphy to show off my first piece, which is a copy of the Witches' Rune!
Do you want this scroll for free? I love doing the calligraphy, and I thought it'd be fun to give this away to someone on EUTM. Frame it or stick it in your BoS! Plus, it's on a 9"x12" piece of paper, with generous margins so it's quite easy to crop.
If you are interested in this script, post a number between 1 and 100. I'll pick the winning number, let's say, next Wednesday, March 5. If you win, PM me your address and I will mail it to you!
OH - and if you have suggestions or requests for my next calligraphy piece, let me know!
Note on reading the script: I used a lot of long S's (look like a lowercase F without the crossbar) and rotunda R's (lowercase R's that look like the numeral 2), if that helps explain why some of the words look spelled wrong! I also made one mistake, which is I wrote "will" instead of "mote" in the third to last line.

Oh God, that's wonderful! More than the scroll itself, I would love to learn your calligraphy! How did you learn, Xiao Rong?

Thanks everyone!
Syngerin, I think I took a two hour workshop once when I was 9 or so, which showed me the basics (how to hold the pen, simple italic calligraphy, etc.), and I took a class in college on Chinese calligraphy, but besides these, I'm mostly self-taught. I'm a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), where we try to recreate the cooler aspects of medieval life (i.e. the fashion, arts, fighting, archery, food, etc.) and skip the bad parts (e.g. plague, sexism, no flushing toilets, etc.), and I'm hoping that if I get good enough with this script, I'll be able to make "scrolls" for them, which sounds like hella fun.
I'll definitely be doing more of these in the near future, but keep the numbers coming! I'm also happy to take requests!
