um...???)@missing money at work

Post by stormer89 »

so something unusual happened at work today.
my drawer (im a cashier) came up $9.00 short.
now i know i didn't take it.
but the problem with fast food is that anyone can get on your register, and a lot of times when we're busy they'll put different people on your register if your doing something else at the time.
my manager just called and said she didn't find it.
i know i didnt take it.
i just wanna know what happened to it.
is there any good way of finding this out? i'm paying the money back so i don't get written up for it, but i jumoney at wor’st got a feeling eithier someone else messed up or someone took it. or someone might be trying to make me look bad or something. i don't know, but i kinda need to. advice?

Hi stormer,

This sort of thing happens all the time. I would let it pass and not give it a
second thought. In reality, it's most likely that you or someone else made
a small mistake giving change or maybe put through an extra transaction
by accident.

Put it out of your mind. There's no sense suspecting anyone of doing you
wrong. This will pass. Don't be concerned about thoughts of your boss or
co-workers thinking you did it; they also understand that these things
happen from time to time.

The best way to find out what really happened is to let go of it. This issue
has too much worry and doubt attached to it for any kind of divination to
yield a beneficial result.

cheers,

i was a waitress on and off for years and this kind of thing happened all the time. i never "paid back" anything. there is no way that i'm giving my money to the register and effectively covering the person that stole in the first place. i'd rather go work somewhere else. if you didn't take it, your conscience should be clear.

i went back and read what you said so i guess i'll add that if you suspect someone has sticky fingers, that's one thing but like thatguy said, it could have been a mistake. sorry i tend to read too quickly sometimes.

Hi Stormer,

Was it you that asked the question about "revealing the truth"?

I'd say, take a white feather, ask Maat to bless it and casually place
it under the cash register...you might get more truth than
you bargained for!

Hey, I used to do fast food, and I don't think my drawer -ever- came up right. It wasn't sticky fingers- I'm just bad at math. :P One day my drawer cam up sixty dollars -over-.

Things like that happen from time to time. You shouldn't need to pay it back- the management knows damned good and well it happens.
