A windowbox greenhouse?

See, my Mum has a vegetable garden and a couple of flower beds, but I want to grow my herbs indoors out of season, i.e. in the dead of winter and in my bedroom. I was thinking of building a sort of greenhouse that I can put out of my window so it gets the sun and be almost like the ice shack we used to use as a greenhouse in the spring, but I don't know where to find the dimensions and instructions on constructing something like that. Does anyone have any ideas?
